Granny Square Wash Cloth Pattern

Image
Free Pattern: Us 5.5 mm or 5.00 mm crochet hook Size 4 medium worsted weight yarn This is a granny square pattern, if you know how to do a granny square the only thing you might not know is the border. To start chain 4 and slip stitch into the first chain, or make a magic circle. Row 1: Chain 3, place 2 double crochets. Chain 2. Place 3 double crochets into the circle. Chain 2. Place three double crochets into the circle. chain 2. Place three double crochets into the circle. Chain 2. (Aka you'll have 4 double crochet clusters of 3 and 4 corners of chain 2s.) Clip stitch into the third chain. Slip stitch in the next two chains until you are slip stitched into one of the opening corners. Row 2: (while in one of the corners) chain 3, double crochet twice. Chain 2, and double crochet 3 more times into the same corner. Each corner piece will have two clusters of three double crochet. Continue in each opening. Face Mask Pattern

Image
Free Pattern: Us 5.5 mm or 5.00 mm crochet hook Size 4 medium worsted weight yarn Start by chaining 32. Row 1-11/13: Single crochet in 8 switches, half double crochet into the next 15, and finish off with 8 more single crochets. Chain one and turn. After you have finished with the last row (which can range depending on the size you want), chain 14 and slip stitch to the bottom side of the mask on the same side to create the ear handle. To create the other side, I slip stitched on the opposite side of the mask, for personal preference ( to tie the two ends together) I slip stitched all down the side, and then chained 12, and finally, slip stitched back to where I originally slip stitched and fasten off. Wearing a mask helps protect others from you. Even if you are not sick you could be a carrier. And if everyone wears a mask everyone is protecting everyone. It is not just about you. it is about working together to stop the spread of COVID. It took me a while to find the perfect pat...

Tube Socks Pattern

Free Pattern: Us 5.5 mm or 5.00 mm crochet hook Size 4 medium worsted weight yarn Start by chaining 4 and slip stitching into the first chain or making a magic circle. Row 1: Chain 3, and place 11 double crochet into the circle. (12 total) Slip stitch into the third chain. Row 2: Chain 3, double crochet into the same stitch, place two double crochet into each stitch all the way around, slip stitch into the third chain at the beginning of the round. Row 3-21: Chain 3, double crochet all the way around in each stitch. Slip stitch into the third chain at the beginning. On row 2, after slip-stitching, fasten off to finish. I have always had trouble with sock patterns because I hate super complicated patterns with an insane amount of nonpattern increases and decreases. When I first started making socks I actually technically knitted them using a round loom and I do plan on writing out this pattern, even though it is knitting, it's something I used and they do make very cute socks. ...

Body Scrubby Pattern (Loofa)

Image
Free Pattern: Us 5.5 mm or 5.00 mm crochet hook Size 4 medium worsted weight yarn Start by chaining 4 and slip stitching into the first chain, or making a magic circle.  Row 1: Chain three, double crochet 24 times into the circle (25 total). Chain 50 (or however long you want the handle) Slip stitch into the third chain at the begging to fish the round. Row 2: Chain 3 And double crochet three times into the same stitch (4 total) Then in each stitch put 4 double crochets. Slip stitch into the third chain at the beginning to finish off the round. Row 3: Repeat row 2. But at the end fasten off. You can add more rows if felt necessary but I like the size of three rows. I learned to make this circle a little loofa or bath scrubby which is what I prefer to call it because I wanted to find a new thing to try and make as a gift for my friends. I am not really sure what to write about this pattern when I was planning what I wanted to give to my friends and family for birthdays and holid...

I Had A Really Great Moment.

Image
One thing that took me a long time to get past, was the worry that if I gift people my crochet crafts, they wouldn't like it. And I am not saying they all do, but only recently I started giving people my items, because well, I'm running out of space. So I started gifting people, and so far no one has complained, I've actually had two people message me showing that they were using the bags I made them. Honestly made me really happy. Being recognized for your work is an awesome thing. I try my hardest to always and only make useful things. So like some people make stuff like stuffed animals which some people like, but most of the people I gift are adults. But even then there are some things people crochet or knit that I'm sorry are just kinda useless. I assume it's mostly for looks or clicks online, but I like to make things I hope someone could actually end up using. Recently I had an annual party where I was the host. I decided to make things like hats, soda co...

Abbreviations

Image
So I have said before that one thing I love about this community is the fact that we share our ideas, some people sell their patterns and I understand the appeal but I am not a huge fan of that side of the community. Anyway, I recently went to a blog trying to get ideas for a project/pattern, and it is common knowledge that a lot of people abbreviate things like single crochet and double crochet, which is easier but I have never been a fan of. But that now that bothered me this time. They made an entire key for abbreviations, fine sure, but they abbreviated stuff like "next" "skip" and such which I'm sorry just seems like overkill. Like why do you feel the need to like abbreviate everything? Like again I understand the stitches because most people try and memorize the stitches for quicker understanding like I understand but they abbreviated everything in the sentence like it made absolutely no sense that I just couldn't read it and gave up. I am not tryin...

Temperature Year Long Blanket

Image
If you don't know what a temperature blanket is, it's where you take the temperature of where you live every year or day or whatever and have a chart connecting it to a color and make a blanket, or something else, corresponding with the colors. I was tagged on Facebook with this picture from Repeat Crafter Me; I thought the idea was really cute even though it had already been February. But I didn't love the chart being it was kinda weird so I wanted to make my own, this one is not based on my average temperature but just kinda more colors and easier remember temperatures going by ten; White <100 F° Light Pink 90-99 F° Pink 80-89 F° Red 70-79 F° Orange 60-69 F° Yellow 50-59 F° Green 40-49 F° Blue 30-39 F° Dark blue 20-29 F° Purple 10-19 F° Black >9 F° I have already started January and realize I'm not completely in love with the chart if I do this again next year id recommend adding possibly one more color since I don't lobe the fact that g...

Bundle Post Thoughts

Image
I love to crochet, I have dozens of projects that I just have in my closet and in a small tote under my bed. I have tried for years to find ways to sell my projects, or I guess, just do something with them. I finally decided the other day, since I learned how to make a cute little produce bag, that I wanted to gift them as presents. I obviously thought about it before, but I know for a fact, not everyone will appreciate or use my creations, and since I put so much love into each one, I refused to do that. Since then I have changed my mind, why? Well mostly since I'm running out of room to put stuff. But also it goes to more waste sitting in my room rather than having the chance with someone else. And as long as a take a picture I remember. But also I love to crochet because it almost keeps me grounded. I think it's because of my ADHD, it keeps my hands busy. Anyway, I make so many projects that I just need to let go of. I have been having trouble figuring how I want to share...

Planning And Thinking And Rambling

Image
I could easily add these posts to my main blog. But I realize one reason my main blog isn't one everyone follows directly is because I don't have one single theme. I post about my life, my hobbies, and just about whatever I want. I like it that way, the theme is me. For a long time I tried to change my blog, make new ones, just to try and earn some money. I was going through a dark time and not realizing what I was doing. Of course, when I work hard and long on a blog, it isn't insane to like/want ads on your blog. I am not selfish, I am human. But to apply for Adsense, through google, since that is my personal opinion is the best one, there are some requirements. For the blogger, google requires the blog to be live for 6 months, need to look clean and organized, and about 50 posts with over 500 words. Obviously, they have a longer list of requirements, but these are the main ones. Meaning if you have a whole bunch of different ads clouding your blog you won't get ac...

Starting A Crochet Blog

Image
Hey, my name is Carolann. I have a few blogs like Cermit Talks and Cooking With Cermit. Crocheting is my all-time favorite hobby, I've been crocheting since I was 13. I originally started with kitting, and then found the wonders of crocheting. For multiple reasons, I feel like crocheting is better for me. For example, I can stop at any point since it's not all stuck on the needle, like knitting. And in the past, I have lost a single knitting needle and had to buy a brand new set. Kind of annoying. I have grown a collection of tools and patterns that have become my favorite. And since I use crochet blogs a lot to look for new patterns or ideas, I thought my knowledge after so many years could do the same for someone else. I have been putting off making a blog because I know I will have to write a lot. Not that writing its self is hard, But I always hate those blogs that have an entire book before the pattern, and have 30 or so ads making it impossible to read and enjoy withou...
