I started crocheting in 2013. I first started after I tried to learn to knit, it was a bit harder and I lost one of the needles. I then found out about crocheting, I had a single ball of yarn and like one needle trying to just figure out how it works. I both knitting and crocheting I learned to do from the internet. Reading hundreds of articles, and watching hundreds of videos, slowing them down, stopping them, and going back. Learning all by myself. That Christmas I got 6 huge spools of yarn from my grandma, they were on sale and she knew how hard I was working to figure it out. It was two red, two blue, and two white. I decided I wanted to try and make a "flag" or stripped blanket with these yarns. I started with scarf-sized pieces planning on sticking them together. I started with red, then blue, then white. I stick it all together but not gonna lie it was wonky. It was all over the place since I didn't know how to keep the sides even. I took a little break, probably from frustration and just life. I eventually took it back up and learned to make a hat, I still couldn't make an even blanket but I tried. I ended up making a few more wonky blankets, before finally realizing. I don't think it was still 2016 that I really got the hang of crocheting itself. But I think only since 2018 I've really upped my game. I learned how to make so many more things, and started taking yarn with me everywhere I went. I eventually made a little kit, and now in my purse whenever I go anywhere, I take yarn and my kit. And in 2020, I got a crochet hook tattoo on my forearm. I am so happy and proud of myself for learning this skill all on my own, it took years and a lifetime of frustration, but I can finally say I am good, and I am fully proud of my work, even when I mess up.

I have been blogging for years, at least since 2017, and it never felt right to just write off my crocheting works as regular posts on my blog Cermit Talks. I had many moments of finding myself and what my blog needed to be, and what I wanted it to be. Not until 2019 did I realize not just who I was, but what my blog meant to me. I decided I finally needed to make this blog. I had been wanting to probably since I started blogging. I love the crochet community and sharing patterns. I look forward to seeing where this blog goes.

Tube Socks Pattern

Free Pattern: Us 5.5 mm or 5.00 mm crochet hook Size 4 medium worsted weight yarn Start by chaining 4 and slip stitching into the first chain or making a magic circle. Row 1: Chain 3, and place 11 double crochet into the circle. (12 total) Slip stitch into the third chain. Row 2: Chain 3, double crochet into the same stitch, place two double crochet into each stitch all the way around, slip stitch into the third chain at the beginning of the round. Row 3-21: Chain 3, double crochet all the way around in each stitch. Slip stitch into the third chain at the beginning. On row 2, after slip-stitching, fasten off to finish. I have always had trouble with sock patterns because I hate super complicated patterns with an insane amount of nonpattern increases and decreases. When I first started making socks I actually technically knitted them using a round loom and I do plan on writing out this pattern, even though it is knitting, it's something I used and they do make very cute socks.

Mushroom Lighter Holder Pattern

  Free Pattern: Us 5.5 mm or 5.00 mm crochet hook Size 4 medium worsted weight yarn The Stem of Mushroom: Make a magic ring or chain 4 and slip stitch into the first chain to create a circle. Row 1: Chain 1. Place 9 single crochets into the circle. Row 2-13: Work a single crochet into every stitch. Row 14: Chain 100 and slip stitch to the opposite side of the stem. Fasten off. The Cap of Mushroom: Chain 8 and slip stitch into the first chain. Row 1: Chain 1. Place 11 single crochet into the circle. Row 2: Increase every stitch by placing two single crochets into each stitch. Rows 3-6: Place a single crochet into each sitch Row 7: For the look in the picture repeat row 3. (if you want a more rounder look decrease all stitches by combining two stitches together all the way around.) Slip stitch and fasten off. Winnie The Pooh Granny Square Blanket

  Back a year or so ago did a series on TikTok where I made socks themed with colors based on characters. I was considering doing it again but did not know if I could focus on the socks long enough, then I thought everyone loves blankets. I had this great idea to make a universal pattern/idea that I would work with any theme or inspiration. With a little trial and error, I came up with this 6 square granny blanket that s about the size of a lap blanket depending on your tension. Each granny square has 10 rows as well as the border row that connects them all. After doing the themed colors choose a matching color for the outside and started another row on each. When I get to the side to connect instead of chaining between each I place the hook through the chain on the other square, yarn over, and pull through to connect.
