Abbreviations

So I have said before that one thing I love about this community is the fact that we share our ideas, some people sell their patterns and I understand the appeal but I am not a huge fan of that side of the community. Anyway, I recently went to a blog trying to get ideas for a project/pattern, and it is common knowledge that a lot of people abbreviate things like single crochet and double crochet, which is easier but I have never been a fan of. But that now that bothered me this time. They made an entire key for abbreviations, fine sure, but they abbreviated stuff like "next" "skip" and such which I'm sorry just seems like overkill. Like why do you feel the need to like abbreviate everything? Like again I understand the stitches because most people try and memorize the stitches for quicker understanding like I understand but they abbreviated everything in the sentence like it made absolutely no sense that I just couldn't read it and gave up. I am not trying to diss anyone or shame their pattern in any way, I just absolutely couldn't read it, when people abbreviate the stitches I really have to try because for me just saying it is easier, that how my patterns will be once I get down to typing them. But is it really that hard to type next? I feel like, as I am writing this, that maybe I just really hate using brainpower since crocheting for me is relaxing and when it's not I get mad, so when I try and find something I want it to be easy, that why it can take me a while to find a pattern or I have to make one because I like thins easy and I want it to be relaxing you know?

I think the reason this bothered me so much is that I plan like I've said before, to post my favorite patterns. And as someone who just blogs in general, it doesn't take that long to write it out, and more so google or wherever you get your ads to you to have longer posts, like 500-1,000 words. So why put all that energy into writing some long explanation BEFORE the pattern just to not put as much care into the actual pattern its self. As a blogger and a reader, I'm sorry when someone clicks on your link to a pattern they arent going for the story, they might read ikt sure, but they want what they came for. I will add a "story" but it will be after so the people who do want to read it can, but I can provide the pattern for the community easily and not abbreviated. I am sorry I have been lacking in patterns so far. I want them to be perfect and I worry when I start it, that it won't be what I want. But to be fair no one is seeing this yet, but I promise, mostly to myself, that I will write out my patterns soon.

This honestly still makes me so mad. There are so many times I look at patterns for inspiration or to get the base down to start and go from there and make my own. And even as a well-diveresed crocheter of many years I still have a hard time with abbreviations. honestly, it saves you a few characters and a few seconds to read a whole word. When I make notes for myself I make little notes that are sometimes abbreviated but only because it is just quick notes for me to later write out so I do not forget or because it is a tiny notebook. But never for full written patterns, like I feel like it takes longer to keep going back up to the key and back to the pattern. You will definitely not find abbreviations on my blog. If I ever do please tell me and I will fix it.

I do not mean to hate on other crocheters I think other people awesome and I love seeing other people's patterns especially if they are free because I believe in free patterns, I have ranted about it before here you can check it out if you want more into that specifically. I really do not want to come off as mean, I truly believe you can do what you want and write what you want but just know it means it might not be as accessible as you think, I am not sure if it hard because of my ADHD or what but it makes it hard to enjoy or try the pattern, or even with pictures if it is just pictured it make sit hard too, crocheting is hard to even for an experienced crocheter.
